Boating Lake Tahoe: What You Need To Know

Know before you go, and make the most of your time on Lake Tahoe.
After our historic winter, Lake Tahoe's water level is over its natural rim, and boating season is in full effect. There really is no better way to appreciate the grandness of Lake Tahoe than to be out on the water. If you are not planning to bring a boat with you, we can help you rent one. If you are bringing a boat, be sure to read through the information below, so that you spend less time waiting and more time boating.
All boats must be inspected prior to entering Lake Tahoe.
Due to invasive species that can impact our waters, mandatory boat inspections are required for all watercraft entering Lake Tahoe. Clean, Drain, and Dry your watercraft. Drain your bilge, ballast tanks, live wells, sea strainer and any storage compartments. Dispose of any plants or critters away from lakes or rivers – and above the high water line. If you have an outboard or sterndrive engine, lower the out. ...

Lions DE takes Wall Street gig while living on 15 percent of NFL salary

Brandon Copeland was up late in Baltimore, staring at his screens in the makeshift basement office in his mother’s home. He read everything he could, notes scribbled to create the presentations he needed to make. The hours stretched into the early morning, sometimes as late as 2 a.m. His team, though, was counting on him.

The work, which he has completed remotely in Maryland, Michigan and at his permanent home in New Jersey, is not labor intensive, although it can strain the eyes. The work has purpose. The data has value.

Copeland needs to formulate a strong opinion, a combination of evidence and personal feelings of public companies. Those findings will be presented to his co-worker, Ron Darnowski, during meetings at Weiss Multi-Strategy Advisers when it’s time to discuss the latest IPO valuations the two have been researching. If his team is right, the firm -- and their clients -- will make money.

Nearly 72 billion gallons of water have poured into Lake Tahoe since April 1

After a winter and early spring marked by unrelenting storms, the Sierra Nevada is piled high with snow. Now, as the storms taper off and the temperatures warm up, the snowpack is beginning to melt and runoff into rivers and lakes.
One place that's seeing a huge impact from all the runoff is Lake Tahoe.
Since April 1, the start of the snow melt season, 219,600 acre feet —that's 71,556,879,600 gallons — of water have poured into the lake, according to Chief Deputy Federal Water Master Dave Wathen.
As a result the lake is filling up fast, and about a foot away from reaching full capacity. Federal wanter managers say Tahoe will fill this summer for the first time in 11 years, and when it does, the total amount it will have risen across the water-year between Oct. 1 and Sept. 30 will be record-breaking.
"What we've come up so far and what we expect to come up will be the largest rise at the lake in 117 years of recorded history," said Wathen.
